Local FA Vase winners AFC Stoneham celebrated in Parliament

A local football team’s trophy win in has been celebrated by the town’s MP in Parliament.

Liz Jarvis, the Liberal Democrat MP for Eastleigh, has tabled an Early Day Motion, congratulating AFC Stoneham for winning the FA Vase.

AFC Stoneham beat Cockfosters at Wembley after winning the game in a penalty shootout.

Ms Jarvis’s Early Day Motion congratulates the players, manager and coaching staff for their brilliant work, and specifically highlights the contribution of goalkeeper Callum Lee, whose penalty-saving heroics proved vital.

The FA Vase victory caps off a successful campaign for the Eastleigh-based club, having also won the Wessex Premier Division.

“AFC Stoneham is a huge part of Eastleigh’s sporting history and they play a vital role in the local community.

“I was delighted that they secured a well-deserved win in the FA Vase. It has been a remarkable season and their players, manager James Phillips and everyone associated with the club deserves a huge amount of credit.

“It was an honour to table this Early Day Motion, highlighting their success in Parliament.”
