Liz Jarvis MP responds to Government announcement on situation in the Middle East
Responding to the Prime Minister’s news conference on the US-Iran War, Member of Parliament for Eastleigh, Liz Jarvis MP, said:
“My constituents are understandably concerned about the impact the war in the Middle East will have on tight household budgets, especially those who depend on their car for work, to get their children to school, or help friends and relatives get around. The Cost-of-Living Crisis is still impacting so many in our community and the last thing they want to see is the cost of filling up their car being made unaffordable.
“We need to get ships moving through the Strait of Hormuz to deliver vital supplies and prevent a further cost-of-living catastrophe. This situation shows once again why we shouldn’t be dependant on oil and gas, exposing families, pensioners and businesses to brutal price shocks as the global market reacts to events abroad. In the long term, we must create an energy policy that has home-grown, clean power at its core.”
