Eastleigh’s MP calls for Government review into further education funding

It comes after teachers from Barton Peveril College, as well as those at neighbouring Peter Symonds College and Itchen Sixth Form College, have engaged in industrial action in December.

Ms Jarvis urged the Government to immediately review further education funding, including the option of exempting colleges from VAT. 

Liberal Democrat MP for Eastleigh, Liz Jarvis said:

“All teachers deserve pay which reflects their hard work and service to young people. 

“While I recognise the funding challenges facing wider education sector and welcome the acceptance of the School Teachers' Review Body (STRB) recommendation, I am deeply concerned that the Government has failed to address this simple issue of fairness and supported these teachers.”
