Eastleigh MP urges national unity ahead of England World Cup game
Liz Jarvis, the Liberal Democrat MP for Eastleigh and Member of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee, has tabled a parliamentary motion emphasising the important role that England has in bringing the country together ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
The Early Day Motion highlights the importance of major international sporting events and how they play a vital role in strengthening community spirit through bringing fans together.
Commenting, Liz Jarvis MP said:
“Supporting England in the World Cup is a unique opportunity for communities to come together and enjoy the beautiful game. I know that football fans in my constituency are incredibly excited.
“The talent, dedication and diversity of this England squad is something we should all celebrate. Football brings people together and it helps unite instead of divide us, even in tumultuous times.
“I am delighted to have tabled this motion in Parliament celebrating The Three Lions, and my colleagues and I in Parliament want to wish them the best of luck.
